Hotel Ventanas al Mar Cozumel is the only oceanfront eco-friendly hotel to be found on Cozumel´s unspoilt, rugged East Coast, about 18km from the city of San Miguel de Cozumel. This beautiful, intimate, family run hotel is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Mexican Caribbean with its white powder beaches, unrestricted views of the ocean and a cool ocean breeze in every room. Enjoy the peace and tranquility whilst stargazing from your balcony at night.

Ventanas al Mar Hotel was built on the only cliff in Cozumel, making the most of the natural landscape with the rooms being built from 7-13m above the ocean right on the cliff, this allows for an incredible view and an unrivalled calming atmosphere with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below.

To the north of the hotel there is an expansive white sandy beach protected by the natural sand dunes, where this ends you get to a rockier beach which extends as far as the eye can see.  The hotel participates in the sea turtle protection program and each summer the turtles come back to lay their eggs and we help to return the newborns to the sea.

Many guests like to rent a car during their stay to get around the island but there are also taxis available on request.  We can recommend a reliable rental company for you.  The hotel also offers free WiFi in the lobby area.

Excellent weekend!!! We spent a weekend at Ventanas al Mar during my last two week trip. What a fantastic place. Loved the room, staff and just the entire place. Restaurant food was very good also.Highly recommend, and will definitely stay again
Stress-free place of relaxation Summary: Ventanas al Mar is a stress-free place of relaxation. We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed the Jan weather of 80 to 85 degrees F (26-29 C). Omar, Estebàn, Miguel & Samantha made our entire visit very enjoyable and ensured we would be back. Rooms: The rooms on the 2nd floor were great for the constant ocean breeze. You must be careful to use the door stop, as the doors may slam shut. We would keep the door partially open during the day to enjoy the breeze. There are available ceiling fans in each room. Suggest checking if the fan's summer/winter switch is set correctly (push down versus pull up). Occasionally the wind will shift from over the island, and the ocean will be very calm for snorkeling. We looked at the other rooms but liked the 2nd floor for additional privacy if the door was open. One benefit of being on the east side was that we noticed almost no insects during our time there. In dry climates, you will always see ants scavenging. We saw tiny ants, but we had no issues as we did not keep any food or waste in the room. We did take peppermint oil with us as a precaution, as it is helpful to spray near ant trails to prevent them from invading, but we did not require it. When we were in the Canary Islands, this proved to be a valuable technique to spray peppermint oil near doors & windows. Side note, it also smelled like Christmas.Beach: No sargassum noticed. And the beach was raked for any debris near the hotel. There are plenty of places to lie down and relax. This island's east side will have more giant waves, which seem best used for boogie boards or kite surfing. We kept an eye out, but we did not experience any rip tides.Electrical: We brought two solar power bricks for extra power if needed, but we did not need them. The hotel has standard NA outlets with electric power all day. During the evenings, a generator will be started (near the road) to ensure A/C is available if needed by guests. Power will shift during these times, e.g. wifi may drop. Rooms can be cooled to low '70s if wished. Transportation: If flying in, recommend getting a car service to drop you off. After a day of relaxation, ask the staff to order a car or scooter, as the hotel is about 30 minutes from downtown San Miguel if you wish to take dive trips or try other places to eat. FYI - Treat the speed bumps (topes) with respect, as they can cause damage if you do not slow down. Use a Visa/MC CC that covers CDW when renting; otherwise, plan on paying for full insurance.Meals: If eating at the hotel, recommend purchasing the hotel reservations directly, as breakfast will be included at no extra cost. The meals are from a fixed menu, but they will try to accommodate your requests. Some meals were near US prices, as you can imagine, the costs to ship supplies to an island. You may pay at the end of your stay. The meals were excellent, and we ate there often. Recommend the lobster enchiladas.ATMs: Strongly recommend ordering Mexican currency before vacation and requesting small bills, e.g., 20/50/100 pesos. Otherwise, the ATMs will typically only give you pesos in 500 denominations. ATMs fee was about 1% + 1 USD at the three (3) different ATMs tested.Payments: Use of Credit cards for more significant amounts is acceptable in Cozumel but expect a 2-5% fee. Cash is king, and change is typically not provided. Carry extra 20/100 pesos with you. Tips: Nominal 10% of the amount or 20/100 pesos for any other minor services.Accommodations: Recommend emailing/calling them to add additional beds if you like or other items would like for your visit. We got massages in our rooms (or on the beach) every three days.Phone/Wifi Service: There are wifi services at the hotel with multiple SSIDs. FYI - WhatsApp is the preferred app on Cozumel for dive shops and other services on the island. Google Voice does not work in Mexico. Phone service is spotty in the rooms. If you need to call, step outside. For vacation, this level of service was acceptable for us, but I would NOT rely on the phone/wifi for business or remote work if you need 7x24 access.Locations: The patio with cervezas mexicanas or room balconies or beach palapas.

Amazing place to stay. After many trips to Cozumel and staying on the west side we decided to try Ventanas for 7 days. Before I begin and possibly bore you I will say we will never stay at any other Hotel in Cozumel other then this one. Ventanas Al Mar has our business for life. The location is amazing. Waking up to sunsets and sleeping to the sound of the waves is something I can’t describe. It’s like laying on the beach but in your bed. The staff are nothing short of amazing and perfect. They know your name from day one and act like you are family. As we said our see you later to Omar the manager the hand shake became a hug. This place is truly special. The food and the views are just icing on the cake. If you need to reconnect with life or a loved one this place is it. No frills just a comfortable bed, excellent service with a view of the stars and the sunrises.

Absolutely Stunning!!! We stayed here before we met up with friends on the island at an all-inclusive. We wish we would have had more time 3 days was NOT enough! Amazing atmosphere, service was superb. Breakfast was included and delicious! Dinner was amazing and very affordable. We was able to wake up to the sunrise and watch from our bed. I loved to walk the beach and found lots of treasures. We will definitely be going back ASAP!!

Lovely Little Gem! We stayed here in July for a little over a week to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary. Not only was the service INCREDIBLE but everything about this little gem of a hotel is just special. From the turtles laying eggs at night, to the shooting stars in the sky above the ocean, to the food and drinks, to the remote location where other special venues could be found, we enjoyed every moment. As avid surfers, we particularly loved being able to surf right out front in the clear blue water above the reef. This place is a true gem.
